When the Walls Fall Away

When the Walls Fall Away

Waxed Javanese linen screens drape a dioramic proscenium, their layered shading an homage to Daguerre, before he found photography. The displays transform with the passing of days and curatorial whims, but the protagonists, ever resolute, give stability to the chaos. In the courtyard, winter couldn’t wilt the lavender; the snow retreated and the camphor and pine once again offered aromatic memories, stalks erect to propitiate the sun sneaking through clouded windows. Behind you is the autumn scene, but you needn’t look, because you know they’re there, hand outstretched for your weary shoulder or warm embrace -- you know it as home.
